The European Central Bank (ECB) has been exploring the development of a digital euro, and recent data shows that cryptocurrency payments are not yet a significant factor for merchants in the Eurozone. According to an ECB report, the use of crypto payments among merchants is minimal.

This comes as the ECB continues its efforts to develop a digital euro app, which would feature accessibility-focused design elements such as screen readers and reduced motion. The goal is to make it easy for people with disabilities to use the app.

In related news, ECB Executive Board member Piero Cipollone warned that the growing use of stablecoins could lead commercial banks to lose retail deposits as payments shift towards crypto-based transactions.
