Economic Calendar Packed with Key Releases from Japan, the US, and Europe
The global economic calendar is packed on August 13 with key releases from Japan, the US, and Europe. In Japan, the Bank of Japan will conduct Japanese government bond (JGB) purchase operations across three maturity zones: 3-5 years, 5-10 years, and over 25 years.
The market consensus is for a 7.3% year-over-year increase in the July Corporate Goods Price Index (CGPI), an acceleration from the prior reading of 7.1%. If corporate goods prices continue to climb, the pass-through to consumer prices could influence the Bank of Japan's monetary policy management.
Overseas, the UK's Q2 GDP flash estimate and June industrial production will be released simultaneously at 3:00 p.m. JST. The GDP flash estimate is expected to show 1.1% quarter-over-quarter growth, accelerating from the prior quarter's 0.9%. Industrial production, meanwhile, is forecast to rise 0.3% month-over-month, a slowdown from the previous 1.0% gain.
