Economic Calendar Set for Inflation Focus as ECB Prepares Rate Hike
Next week's economic calendar is set to be dominated by inflation data and central bank meetings.
In the US, existing home sales are expected to have slid 3.4% in August to an annualized rate of 3.92 million, due to ongoing weakness in mortgage applications and higher mortgage rates.
Meanwhile, headline inflation is forecast to have picked up last month, with a 0.40% increase, driven by rising gasoline prices and grocery prices rebounding after modestly declining in July.
The European Central Bank (ECB) is expected to raise the Deposit Rate by 25 bps to 2.50%, as policymakers aim to keep inflation contained amid ongoing energy price pressures.
