Economy Takes Center Stage in New Zealand Election

Former Prime Minister John Key spoke at the Financial Services Council conference in Auckland, where he discussed the upcoming election and its focus on economic policy.

Key noted that the current government has done a good job in areas such as education, law and order, and health, but emphasized that the economy will be the main point of contention in the election.

'The economy really is going to be the big thing that's going to be fought out, and it's going to be fought out over tax policy in that space,' Key said. He argued that countries with lower taxes, more freedom, and private enterprise tend to perform better in the long run.
