EFCC Investigates Suspect Over Undeclared $73,000, £15,957, SAR 827,800 at Kano Airport

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has launched an investigation into Haruna Yusuf, who was caught carrying undeclared foreign currencies at Kano's Mallam Aminu Kano International Airport.

Nigeria Customs Service officers intercepted $73,000, £15,957, and 827,800 Saudi Riyals in two separate incidents between August 8 and August 12. The currencies were found concealed inside shoes during routine screenings.

EFCC Assistant Commander of the Kano Directorate, Friday S. Ebelo, received the suspect and recovered funds on behalf of the Commission.

Ebelo emphasized that declaring currency is not a penalty and only undeclared funds may raise legal concerns.
