Egypt Caps Cash Limit for Foreign Travelers

The Egyptian government has announced a cash limit for foreign travelers entering or leaving the country. The rule applies to both incoming and outgoing passengers, covering Egyptian pounds and foreign currencies such as US dollars and British pounds sterling.

The limits are as follows: $10,000 in foreign currency, which is equivalent to 5,000 Egyptian pounds. This means that travelers cannot carry more than this amount when crossing the border. Those carrying cash above these limits risk falling foul of customs regulations.

This regulation affects tourists and business travelers who prefer to carry large sums of cash instead of relying on cards or bank transfers while abroad. Egypt remains one of Africa's most visited destinations, attracting millions of international arrivals each year.
