Egyptian Pound Rises Against Dollar and Euro Amid Oil Price Scenarios
The Egyptian pound has gained strength against both the US dollar and euro at Sunday's close. The dollar's buying price was EGP 50.82 at Banque Misr and the National Bank of Egypt, while its selling price was EGP 50.92.
According to investment bank Morgan Stanley, Egypt's external position has shown resilience in the face of recent regional shocks, with Brent crude averaging $65 per barrel in the second half of 2026 and declining to around $60 per barrel in 2027 under a first scenario.
The second scenario outlines oil prices averaging between $70 and $75 per barrel as inventories are rebuilt. In contrast, the third scenario sees oil prices remaining elevated for longer while foreign direct investment inflows weaken.
