The European Investment Bank (EIB) has published mock-ups of its vision for future euro banknotes, showcasing major projects and investments it supports across Europe.

The EIB clarified that designing and printing euro banknotes is not its responsibility, but rather the task of the European Central Bank. However, in its fictional designs, the EIB highlighted several key initiatives, including a 3 billion euro financing package for the Lisbon-Porto high-speed rail line in Portugal.

The mock-ups also feature offshore wind energy investments in Poland, where the EIB is supporting projects worth 2 billion euros. These investments aim to make wind power account for nearly one-tenth of Poland's electricity by 2030.

In addition to these projects, the EIB emphasized its support for TechEU, which plans to mobilize 340 billion euros by 2028 for technology, clean energy, space, housing, and biotechnology. The bank also noted its investments in affordable housing, with 5.2 billion euros allocated in 2025 and a projected increase to around 6 billion euros in 2026.
