Energy Bill Surge Drives UK Inflation to 4-Month High
The UK's Consumer Prices Index (CPI) inflation rate has risen to 2.9%, its highest level in four months, driven by a jump in energy bills.
Fuel prices are now contributing significantly to the overall inflation measure, which is based on a sample of everyday items and services.
The Bank of England's target for CPI inflation is 2%.
In contrast, food prices, while still rising at 1.3%, have been increasing at their lowest rate in nearly five years.
