Equities Face Headwinds Amid Geopolitical Tensions and High Crude Oil Prices
India's stock markets are expected to remain under pressure this week due to ongoing geopolitical tensions in West Asia. The Strait of Hormuz and Red Sea disruptions have pushed Brent crude oil prices above $100 per barrel, raising concerns over inflation, energy supplies, and India's external balances.
The weakness of the rupee, currently trading at around Rs 96.6 per US dollar, along with sustained Foreign Institutional Investor (FII) selling, is also expected to keep investor sentiment cautious.
However, the ongoing Q1FY27 earnings season is likely to drive stock- and sector-specific action, limiting broader downside. Key earnings this week include BEL, Coal India, Hindustan Unilever, Larsen & Toubro, Adani Ports, Mahindra & Mahindra, Maruti Suzuki, Coforge, Bajaj Finance, Colgate, Sun Pharma, and Glenmark Pharmaceuticals.
