EU Banking Sector Sees 3.63% Total Assets Growth in March 2026

The European Central Bank (ECB) has released its consolidated banking data for end-March 2026, showing a 3.63% increase in total assets of EU-headquartered credit institutions to €34.33 trillion.

This marks a rise from the previous year's total assets of €33.13 trillion in March 2025.

The data also indicate that the aggregate non-performing loans ratio of EU credit institutions increased by 0.02 percentage points year on year, reaching 1.98% in March 2026.
