EUR Gains as US Labor Market Disappoints

The Euro has gained strength against the US Dollar as disappointing labor market data from the United States weighed on investor sentiment. The EUR/USD pair rose by approximately 0.2% to trade near 1.1560, extending its recovery towards the top of the recent range.

The ADP Employment Change report showed a rise in jobs by just 44K in July, well below the forecasted 70K and down from 98K in June. This decline has led to concerns that the US labor market may be losing momentum more quickly than previously thought.

Additionally, the ISM Services Purchasing Managers Index (PMI) increased to 54.1 in July from 54 in June but fell short of the expected 54.5. The employment component within this index dropped into contraction at 47.4, further underscoring the weakening labor market.

Meanwhile, tensions between Iran and Oman have led to a potential agreement on commercial shipping through the Strait of Hormuz. This arrangement would grant Tehran greater control over vessels transiting the waterway, but officials caution that an outcome is uncertain.
