EUR/GBP Consolidates Amid Middle East Uncertainty
The EUR/GBP currency pair has been quiet on Tuesday, but this is due to external factors such as uncertainty in the Middle East and its impact on energy supplies. According to Christopher Lewis, a technical analyst at DailyForex, the market is influenced by these factors, resulting in a consolidation area between 0.8540 and 0.8580.
When looking at the chart, it's clear that the 50-day EMA has offered resistance as of late, forming a bullish flag pattern. However, for this pattern to be convincing, the price needs to break above the 50-day EMA. On the other hand, if the price breaks down below 0.8525, it may head towards 0.8450.
The British Pound offers a higher yield than the European currency, making interest rate decisions more favorable for the former. However, whether or not the Europeans will hike rates is uncertain due to energy supply concerns, particularly in countries like Germany and France.
