EUR/GBP Fails to Gain Amid Upbeat German Data and Strong Pound Sterling

The EUR/GBP exchange rate remains flat despite upbeat German economic data released on Tuesday. The pair traded around 0.8560, showing little change in value as a result of the positive figures.

Gross Domestic Product (GDP) rose 0.3% in the second quarter, exceeding the forecasted 0.2%. Additionally, the annual rate increased to 1%, and the IFO business sentiment survey showed a significant jump in August with a headline Business Climate index of 88.8, surpassing the expected 87.2.

The Pound Sterling has maintained its strength, trading near a six-month high against the US Dollar (USD), which could explain why the Euro failed to gain value amid better-than-expected German data. The upbeat figures have slightly reduced the likelihood of further European Central Bank (ECB) easing but are not enough to shift the needle in favor of the Euro.
