EUR/JPY Weakens Ahead of BoJ Rate Decision
The EUR/JPY pair has weakened to near 179.10 in early European trading on Friday, as investors await the Bank of Japan's (BoJ) interest rate decision next week.
Analysts polled by Reuters expect a 25-basis-point hike to 1.25% at the September 17-18 meeting, with some anticipating further tightening if inflation risks persist.
The BoJ's hawkish stance has been underscored by recent comments from board member Kazuyuki Masu, who argued that the bank needs to raise rates further to normalize monetary policy in Japan.
