EUR/USD Pulls Back Amid Diverging Interest Rate Expectations
The EUR/USD exchange rate is seeing a pullback from recent highs as market participants weigh fresh economic data and shifting interest rate expectations. The euro slipped against the U.S. dollar on Tuesday, trading around 1.0850 during European hours.
The divergence in monetary policy outlooks between the Federal Reserve and the European Central Bank is a key factor in this pullback. While the Fed has signaled a patient approach to rate cuts, the ECB has hinted at possible easing later this year, which puts pressure on the euro.
The dollar regained some footing after a soft patch, with the dollar index edging up 0.2% on the day and adding to the euro's decline. Despite this pullback, the EUR/USD pair has so far held above the 1.0800-1.0820 support zone.
