EUR/USD Tumbles Amid Warsh's Hawkish Tone at Jackson Hole
The EUR/USD currency pair fell by 0.50% on August 28 to $1.15925, following a downward trend of 0.72% over the past week.
The decline was largely attributed to the hawkish tone adopted by Federal Reserve Chair Kevin Warsh during his keynote address at the Jackson Hole economic symposium.
Warsh emphasized the central bank's commitment to bringing inflation down to its target of 2%, highlighting persistent price pressures across personal consumption expenditures measures.
The Fed's stance led to an upward repricing of U.S. interest rate expectations and a corresponding increase in U.S. Treasury yields, which in turn bolstered the U.S. dollar.
