Euro Area Bank Interest Rates Rise for Corporations

The European Central Bank (ECB) has released its bank interest rate statistics for June 2026, showing increases in borrowing costs for corporations and households.

The composite cost-of-borrowing indicator for new loans to corporations rose by 15 basis points to 3.79%, while the indicator for new loans to households for house purchase remained broadly unchanged at 3.51%.

For corporations, the interest rate on new loans of over €1 million with a floating rate and an initial rate fixation period of up to three months increased by 26 basis points to 3.54%. The interest rate on deposits from corporations with an agreed maturity of up to one year rose by 16 basis points to 2.19% in June 2026.

The ECB's data also showed that the interest rate on new loans to households for consumption decreased by 12 basis points to 7.50%, while the interest rate on deposits from households with an agreed maturity of up to one year increased by 11 basis points to 2.03%.
