Euro Area Economy Surpasses Expectations Despite Geopolitical Tensions

The euro area economy grew more strongly than expected in the second quarter, up by 0.4 percent quarter on quarter.

This growth is largely attributed to Ireland's GDP expanding by 3.9 percent quarter on quarter, with its economy heavily dependent on multinational corporations.

Excluding Ireland, the eurozone GDP growth would have been 0.1 percentage points lower in the second quarter, according to calculations of Pantheon Macroeconomics.

Despite this positive growth, the economic outlook remains clouded by geopolitical tensions and rising inflation.
