Euro-area Households Cut Spending Amid Iran War Uncertainty
The European Central Bank (ECB) has found that euro-area households are curtailing their spending due to uncertainty surrounding the Iran war, rather than faster inflation.
A recent research paper by the ECB's economists Neus Dausa i Noguera, Maria Dimou, and Omiros Kouvavas analyzed the impact of the conflict on consumer behavior.
The study found that household confidence sank and consumption momentum softened significantly following the start of the war in Iran.
