The euro-area flash inflation rate increased marginally to 2.9% in July, largely due to higher energy prices. The recent rise in oil and gas prices pushed up energy costs for euro-area consumers, causing the annual rate of energy inflation to jump from 8.5% in June to 10.0% in July.
