Euro Exemptions: Six EU Countries Still Hold Out

Travelers heading to Europe should be aware that not all countries use the euro. Six European Union member states still have their own currencies, and hotel guests may be surprised by what they can and cannot take from their rooms.

According to Tourism.d.ua, reusable supplies like towels, bathrobes, bed linen, hairdryers, and similar items are considered property of the hotel and should be left behind. However, disposable items such as toiletries, tea, coffee, and slippers are fair game for guests to take.

The six EU countries that have not adopted the euro are Denmark, Poland, Romania, Hungary, Czechia, and Sweden. Although Romania and Hungary may consider adopting the euro in the future, it's essential for travelers to know these currency rules to avoid misunderstandings and make their trips more enjoyable and comfortable.
