Euro Gains Against Dollar Ahead of Crucial US Jobs Report
The euro experienced a slight gain against the dollar in jittery trading as investors await the US July employment report. As of 20:00 European time, EUR/USD traded at $1.1527, up about 0.0005 dollars from the 17:00 Tokyo time level of $1.1522.
The rise in euro was also influenced by a slight dip in the US 10-year Treasury yield during after-hours trading and a brief increase in EUR/GBP to $1.1531. However, the dollar/yen pair faced a decline, with the pair standing at 158.30 yen as of 20:00 European time.
The market's attention is focused on the US July employment report, scheduled for release at 21:30 Japan time. The outcome will significantly impact views on the Federal Reserve's monetary policy, with expectations shifting if the data suggests a cooling labor market or stronger-than-expected figures.
