Euro Hits Near Two-Week Highs Ahead of ECB Rate Decision
The euro has risen against a basket of global currencies, reaching near two-week highs as investors await key decisions from the European Central Bank (ECB).
The ECB will conclude its sixth regular monetary policy meeting of 2026 later today, with markets fully expecting an interest rate hike. The rate hike would take European rates to their highest level since March 2025 amid persistent inflationary pressures caused by higher energy prices.
The euro rose around 0.1% against the US dollar to $1.1642 on Thursday, extending its gains against the greenback for a fourth consecutive day.
