Euro Hits Record Low Against Albanian Lek
The Euro has hit a new historical minimum against the Albanian Lek, exchanging at 92.44 Lekë on Tuesday according to official Bank of Albania data.
This decline marks a 4.5% fall from the beginning of the calendar year and a 4.9% drop compared to the same period last year.
The high supply of foreign currency during the summer season has contributed to this downward trend, which began in the first quarter of the year due to improvements in Albania's Balance of Payments.
Statistics show that the current account deficit decreased by 28% in the first quarter compared to the same period last year, reaching a new low of 228 million euros. Meanwhile, foreign direct investments reached a record 404 million euros for this time of year, increasing by 11.6% from the previous year.
