Euro Holds Ground as German Inflation Surges
The Euro (EUR) held its ground against the Canadian Dollar (CAD) on Wednesday after Germany's Harmonized Index of Consumer Prices (HICP) data showed inflation surged to 2.8% in July, reversing a recent downward trend.
This jump was mainly due to sharp acceleration in energy costs, according to Ruth Brand, President of the Federal Statistical Office (Destatis).
The EUR/CAD cross has been trading around 1.6070 during European hours on Wednesday, with little movement after five days of losses.
Analysts at Rabobank caution that the Eurozone's evolving stance toward China may be missing a deeper structural story, as policymakers focus on near-term trade tensions while underestimating the broader transformation of the global economic landscape.
