Euro Holds Steady Against Pound as ECB, BoE Rate Hike Bets Cancel Each Other Out
The Euro has maintained its stability against the British Pound as interest rate expectations from both the European Central Bank (ECB) and the Bank of England (BoE) balance each other out.
Rising German producer prices and surging European natural gas prices have kept inflation risks elevated across the Eurozone, with the German Producer Price Index (PPI) rising 3% year-over-year in July, exceeding market expectations of 2.7%.
However, UK inflation remains high at 2.9%, but recent signs of a cooling labor market and slightly softer employment conditions have limited the need for aggressive monetary tightening from the BoE.
