Euro Recovers After Eurozone Data Falls Short of Expectations
The euro has staged a minor recovery after recent losses, despite some unfavorable data from the euro area. Eurozone inflation rose at a slower pace than expected, and unemployment rates increased to 6.4%, surpassing forecasts.
CPI inflation in the eurozone year-over-year rose to 3.3%, matching expectations, while month-over-month CPI inflation came in at 0.4% versus the forecasted 0.5%. Core CPI inflation, on the other hand, fell to 2.4% from the expected 2.5%.
The unemployment rate rose to 6.4%, exceeding expectations of a 6.3% rate. Despite these numbers, the euro has started to recover slightly, though it's unclear how sustainable this trend will be.
