Euro Rises as Investors Await US Jobs Data
The euro strengthened against a basket of global currencies on Friday, extending its recovery from a two-week low against the US dollar. It marked its second consecutive day of gains and is on track for a weekly gain.
Investors are awaiting the release of the monthly US jobs report, which will provide crucial clues about the likelihood of the Federal Reserve raising interest rates in September. The report's findings could lead to a repricing of expectations for Fed rate hikes.
The euro rose less than 0.1% against the dollar to $1.1633 on Friday, from an opening level of $1.1626. It has gained around 0.5% against the US dollar this week and is on track for its fourth weekly gain in five weeks.
