Euro Slumps Amid Ongoing Middle East Tensions and US-Iran Uncertainty
The Euro has declined against the US Dollar due to ongoing uncertainty in the Middle East. The region's tensions between Iran and the United States have led to a boost in support for the USD, keeping Federal Reserve interest rate decisions on the radar.
Traders are eagerly awaiting the July Nonfarm Payrolls and unemployment data release this Friday, which will give them insight into future interest rate decisions. The report is expected to show a 83,000 increase in nonfarm payrolls, up from 57,000 previously, with an unemployment rate of 4.3%, slightly higher than June's 4.2%.
Falling oil prices have also contributed to the Euro's decline, as hopes for US-Iran talks ease inflation fears and boost risk sentiment. However, any signs of escalating tensions could drive crude oil prices higher, potentially prompting the Fed to hold interest rates at elevated levels for longer.
