Euro Speculators Cut Net Short Position Amid Market Volatility

Instruments
EUR
Share

Large currency speculators have slightly reduced their net short position in the Euro futures market, according to data from the Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC). The non-commercial futures contracts of Euro futures, traded by large speculators and hedge funds, totaled a net short position of 59,088 contracts as of August 18, 2026. This is down from a week ago, when they held a net short position of 60,010 contracts.

The data shows that these investors have been reducing their bearish bets on the Euro in recent weeks. The reduction in net short positions may indicate a slight shift towards a more neutral or even bullish stance on the Euro by large speculators and hedge funds.
