Euro Surges Against CAD on Falling Oil Prices and Strong German Data
The Euro has strengthened against the Canadian Dollar as crude oil prices continue to fall. The decline in oil markets is attributed to regional diplomatic initiatives, including talks between Iran and Oman to establish a temporary joint maritime corridor in the Strait of Hormuz.
Pakistan's army chief recently visited Tehran to endorse these efforts, while Qatar confirmed its ongoing commitment to mediation efforts, further easing geopolitical supply concerns in the region. As a result, Brent crude slipped below USD90 as US-Iran diplomacy hopes weighed on yields.
The EUR/CAD cross is holding its ground due to strong support for the Euro, driven by upbeat German macroeconomic data. Germany's second-quarter GDP was revised upward, and the IFO Business Climate Index climbed to a one-year high in August, outperforming market forecasts.
