Euro Surges Against Dollar as Eurozone PMI Strength Fails to Materialize in US
The euro has gained strength against the US dollar due to stronger-than-expected purchasing managers' index (PMI) figures from the Eurozone, according to analysts at Brown Brothers Harriman (BBH).
The PMI data suggests that the region's private sector is holding up better than anticipated, which reduces pressure on the European Central Bank to adopt a more dovish stance.
In contrast, the US dollar has been under pressure due to disappointing economic data and growing expectations of Federal Reserve interest rate cuts later this year. This divergence in economic performance between the Eurozone and the US is driving the EUR/USD exchange rate.
