Euro Surges Against Pound as ECB Rate Hike Looms
The Euro is trading near its one-week highs against the British Pound, buoyed by expectations of an interest rate hike from the European Central Bank in September.
Recent economic data has reinforced the view that the ECB will tighten monetary policy to combat inflationary pressures. The Eurozone's GDP and employment growth have shown a rebound after stagnating in the previous quarter.
The Pound, however, remains cautious due to dovish sentiments from the Bank of England, which may hold off on raising interest rates despite a split committee. UK fiscal uncertainty, including plans to ease living costs for the electorate, also contributes to the Pound's nervous tone.
