Euro Surges as Strong PMI Data Fails to Dent Dovish ECB Expectations
The euro is gaining strength against the US dollar due to resilient purchasing managers' index (PMI) data from the Eurozone, according to Brown Brothers Harriman (BBH) analysts.
The latest PMI figures show that the region's private sector is holding up better than expected, with the economy not deteriorating as quickly as some projections had suggested. This has reduced pressure on the European Central Bank to adopt a more dovish stance.
On the other hand, the US dollar is facing headwinds from softer economic indicators and changing Federal Reserve expectations. Market participants are now pricing in a higher probability of rate cuts later this year, which typically weighs on the dollar's appeal.
