Euro Surpasses All-Time High Against Hryvnia Amid Dollar Decline
The Euro has reached an all-time high against the Ukrainian hryvnia, while the US dollar's value has decreased slightly. According to the latest exchange rates released by Ukraine's central bank on August 21, 2026, the dollar is valued at 44.61 hryvnias and the euro at 52.13 hryvnias.
Vasyl Furman, a member of the National Bank of Ukraine's Council, attributed the dollar's decline to short-term economic signals from the United States, pointing out that July retail sales were down, the labor market slowed somewhat, and inflation came in at a more moderate pace.
The situation is also drawing attention from international lenders, with the IMF set to consider the first review of Ukraine's extended financing program. The country has submitted requests for waivers regarding a missed performance criterion and for financing guarantees.
