Euro Weakens Amid US-Iran Tensions and Fed Inflation Concerns
The recent escalation of tensions between the US and Iran has led to a softening of the Euro, pushing it towards the 1.1500 mark. Iranian Parliament Speaker Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf warned that the US will pay the price for killing Iranian civilians, according to the Guardian.
Meanwhile, Saudi Arabia and 13 other countries have formed an international coalition to protect freedom of navigation through strategic waterways in the Middle East. This development has raised concerns over prolonged conflicts in the region, weighing on the shared currency as riskier assets.
The US Federal Reserve's decision to keep interest rates unchanged at its July policy meeting has also contributed to the Euro's weakness. Traders are questioning whether the Fed's new chief is serious about containing inflation, which could undermine the Greenback and boost the Euro.
