Euro Zone Consumers Cut Inflation Expectations Amid Energy Price Decline
Consumers in the Euro zone have tempered their expectations of inflation, according to a recent poll by the European Central Bank. The survey found that respondents expected inflation over the next 12 months to be at 3.0%, down from 3.5% in May.
This decrease is likely due to the short-lived truce in the Middle East that led to lower energy prices, which in turn reduced inflation expectations. However, it's worth noting that expectations for inflation three years ahead declined slightly to 2.8% from 2.9%, while views five years ahead remained unchanged at 2.4%.
The ECB's Consumer Expectations Survey provides valuable insights into the inflationary pressures facing the Euro zone economy.
