Euro Zone Lending Growth Soars Following ECB Rate Hike

The European Central Bank's (ECB) rate hike has had a positive effect on euro zone lending growth, according to recent data. In July, the first full month after the ECB raised interest rates for the first time in nearly three years, bank lending to both companies and households accelerated.

Lending to non-financial corporations saw an annual growth rate of 4.4% in July, up from 4.0% in June. This increase is attributed to stronger demand or the transmission of the ECB's June interest rate hike.

Household lending also grew modestly, with a 3.1% increase in July compared to 3.0% in June. While this growth is cautious and reflects a positive response to monetary policy changes, it is still an improvement over previous months.
