Europe Dominates Global Rankings of Highest Minimum Wages
Luxembourg retains its position as the country with the world's highest statutory minimum wage in 2026. European nations dominate this year's global rankings, with Australia emerging as the only non-European country in the top five.
The United States is not among the top 10 countries offering the highest statutory minimum wages in 2026, despite being one of the world's wealthiest economies. Governments have continued to raise their national minimum wages in response to inflation, labor shortages, and rising living costs.
Luxembourg's workers continue earning the world's highest statutory minimum wage in 2026 at €3,244.48 per month for skilled workers and €2,703.74 for unskilled employees. Australia maintains one of the world's strongest minimum wage systems through annual reviews by the Fair Work Commission.
