European stock markets closed mixed on Monday as investors weighed various factors affecting global economic trends. The pan-European Stoxx 600 index inched up 0.05% to 654.49 points, boosted by gains in travel and leisure shares.

The UK's FTSE 100 index led the way with a gain of 0.35%, supported by mining and travel stocks. In contrast, Germany's DAX slipped 0.07% to 26,118.99 points, while France's CAC 40 fell 0.37% to 8,453.01.

The oil price decline following six consecutive sessions of gains also had a mixed impact on the markets. Lower crude prices supported airline and travel stocks but weighed on energy companies.

Investors remained cautious ahead of key events, including US Federal Reserve Chair Kevin Warsh's speech at the Jackson Hole symposium and Nvidia's upcoming quarterly results.
