Europe's Markets Defy Iran War Headwinds
European markets have defied expectations and are thriving despite the Iran war. The STOXX 600 index is near record highs, and company earnings are exceeding expectations.
The euro has also reached a three-month peak at $1.17, with analysts attributing some of this move to a broadly softer dollar and stronger economic data.
Investors have flocked to European markets, pouring in over $2.44 billion in the week ending August 12, according to LSEG/Lipper data. This is the largest inflow since February 25, just before the US-Iran war broke out.
The European economy has weathered the Iran war better than anticipated, and a clearer monetary policy outlook compared to other regions has also contributed to investor interest.
