Europe's Stocks Bounce on PMI Growth, but Oil and Yields Keep a Lid On
European stocks experienced a boost on Friday as the eurozone PMI surveys showed business activity growing at its fastest pace this year. The STOXX 600 rose by 0.6%, driven by improving factory orders and steadier exports, which analysts described as 'good news without overheating.'
However, the rally was hindered by two major concerns: oil prices and bond yields. Reuters reported that US officials threatened 'the toughest sanctions in history' on Iran, leading to a 0.5% rise in Brent crude and increased expectations for inflation.
The European Central Bank's (ECB) outlook also shifted towards a more hawkish stance, causing government bond yields to move higher. This change in market sentiment raised concerns about future rate cuts, potentially weighing on companies with expected cash flows further out in the future.
