Eurozone Companies Slow to Embrace Cryptocurrency
The European Central Bank (ECB) has published its survey on payment methods in the eurozone, revealing that only 1% of companies accept cryptocurrency. This is the lowest figure among all payment methods considered.
The survey included 8,205 companies from all 21 eurozone countries operating in retail, hospitality, and the arts, entertainment, and leisure sectors. It found that cash remains the most common payment method at physical locations, with 92% of companies accepting it. Bank cards are a close second, with their share rising from 87% to 88%.
The acceptance of mobile payments has nearly doubled, from 36% to 68%. Among companies that support this payment method, 75% accept instant payments, 63% accept digital wallets, and 19% accept QR code payments. Bank checks, on the other hand, have seen a decline in acceptance, dropping from 36% to 27%.
