Eurozone Economy Holds Firm Amid Global Turmoil

The eurozone economy continues to show steady growth despite global turmoil and unrest. The composite PMI, which measures business activity across both manufacturing and services, remained firm at 52.1 in August, up from 52 in July.

This indicates that the economy is growing at a steady rate, with both manufacturing and services contributing positively. In fact, the manufacturing output PMI increased to 53.4, its highest reading in four and a half years, while services remained robust at 51.7.

Despite concerns about inflationary pressures due to rising oil prices above $90 per barrel and higher interest rates, businesses reported softening inflationary pressures this month. Input cost growth and selling price growth both eased, which may alleviate some of the concerns that core inflation could rise quickly in response to geopolitical developments.

The eurozone economy has been resilient so far, and momentum remains surprisingly decent despite ongoing economic risks. The third quarter is likely to see another decent GDP growth print, as indicated by the current PMI readings.
