Eurozone Inflation Hits 2.9% as Expected
The Eurozone's inflation rate rose at a faster pace in July, according to data released by Eurostat. The Harmonized Index of Consumer Prices (HICP) increased by 2.9% year-over-year, matching expectations and surpassing the previous month's rate of 2.8%. This marks the second consecutive month that HICP has risen above 2.8%, a trend that may have some investors reevaluating their views on the Eurozone economy.
The core HICP, which excludes volatile components like food and energy, also grew at a faster pace in July, reaching 2.5% year-over-year. This is up from June's rate of 2.4%, suggesting that underlying inflation pressures are increasing.
