Eurozone Inflation Hits 3-Year High Amid Energy Price Surge

The eurozone is experiencing its highest inflation rate in three years, with prices rising 3.3% in August compared to a year earlier.

Energy costs are the primary driver of this increase, fueled by ongoing tensions in the Middle East.

Germany saw the fastest price growth at 3.1%, while Italy hit a near-three-year high of 3.4%. Spain's inflation rate has more than doubled the European Central Bank's 2% target.

The core inflation rate, which excludes volatile energy and food costs, remained steady at 2.5%, suggesting that prices have not spiraled out of control... yet.

With interest rates expected to rise on September 10, policymakers aim to cool down the economy while preventing a wage-price spiral.
