The Eurozone's annual inflation rate accelerated to 3.3% in August 2026, its highest level in three years, according to a flash estimate from Eurostat.

This marks the second consecutive monthly increase, following a rate of 2.8% in June and 2.9% in July.

The surge in inflation was largely driven by energy costs, which rose by 14.3% in the year to August, up from 10.3% in July.

Eurozone inflation was last above 3.3% in September 2023, when it stood at 4.3%, but this current rate represents the highest level in nearly three years.
