Eurozone Investor Confidence Rebounds in August
The Eurozone's investor confidence has turned positive for the first time since February, according to the Sentix Investor Confidence index. The index rose to 0.9 in August from -7.3 in July, a significant improvement driven by easing inflation and expectations of further interest rate cuts by the European Central Bank (ECB).
Investors are increasingly betting on a more supportive monetary policy environment, with inflation in the Eurozone cooling to 2.6% in July and the ECB having already cut its deposit rate twice this year. Markets anticipate at least one more reduction before year-end.
The resilient labor markets and stabilization in manufacturing activity have also contributed to a more constructive outlook. The current situation sub-index improved, rising to -8.5 from -13.5, while the expectations component jumped to 10.5 from -1.0.
The positive Sentix reading could bolster the euro in the near term, but the ECB is likely to remain data-dependent and focus on underlying inflation dynamics and wage growth.
