Eurozone Manufacturing PMI Hits Four-Year High Amid Export Growth
The Eurozone's manufacturing sector experienced its fastest expansion in more than four years, according to a recent PMI report. The flash manufacturing purchasing managers' index (PMI) rose to 52.8 from 51.9 in July, surpassing the 50 threshold that separates expansion from contraction.
New orders across the private sector grew at their fastest rate in 40 months, while export orders increased for the first time since February 2022. Employment returned to growth, indicating greater confidence in sustained output.
Despite these encouraging signs, energy costs remain a concern due to ongoing conflicts and trade uncertainty. The European Central Bank must balance economic growth with price pressures, which may be exacerbated by rising energy costs.
